Open the box!

August 8, 2023 by Nafsika-Marina Smyrli

Objectives: To revise vocabulary regarding classroom objects or clothes in a fun way.

Age group: Preschoolers, age 6/7 years old.

Preparation: You will need a box and some pictures/mini flashcards. These pictures may portray items such as a book, a desk, a bag, a pencil, clothes such as a hat, a T-shirt, a skirt, and a pair of shoes.

Instructions: Divide students into small groups, each one consisting of 2 children. A child of each group with the eyes closed, opens the box, picks up a picture/flashcard, and shows it to his/her teammate who names the item.

Time: 20-30 minutes.

Note: Preschoolers can only name the item they see. For more advanced learners, try to encourage them to say the whole phrase; “It’s a pencil.”, “It’s a skirt”.
