Hungry squirrel

August 7, 2023 by Nafsika-Marina Smyrli

Objectives: To practice spelling words in a fun way.

Age group: Preschoolers-7 years old.

Preparation: Print out a squirrel and acorns. On each acorn write CVC or CVCe words. Open a hole in the squirrel’s mouth, wide enough so that the acorns can fit in.

Instructions: Divide the students into two teams. Explain to them that the squirrel is hungry and that they need to feed it. Each team takes turns picking acorns and spelling the words written on the acorns.  If they spell the word correctly, they get to feed the squirrel. They have 15’ to feed the squirrel. The team that feeds the most acorns to the squirrel, wins!

Time: 30-35 minutes.
